Auckland & National Events

Athletics also offers children the opportunity to participate in a variety of regional and national events. Some are based on a trial and selection process, others you can simply choose to participate in of your own free will. The club will offer information over the course of the season as each of these events comes up. Below is some basic information about some of the event opportunities available.

10/11 Year Team Challenge

Squads will be selected from 3 established areas in the Auckland centre – Counties Manukau, Central / West Auckland and North Auckland to create the 3 teams of athletes (Outside centres can be invited to participate as well).

The event will be based on the successful Challenge day,  trialled last year. The competition will start mid-morning and go through the day. At the completion of the competition there will be dinner for the athletes as well as a prize giving were the individual and team awards are presented to the athletes and teams.

The points for the competition are based on the 5 Star athletics scoring charts. All athletes receive a certificate at prize giving with their total points across their individual events determining which level of certificate they achieve.

The team awards are a based on a combined total of the individual awards for each team.
